CART was at the D-Day Centre, Portland at the weekend. Although a bit chilly, the team were kept in high spirits with mugs of hot tea and cake, while the public and re-enactors were fascinated with everything AUX Units.

Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it, CART will be displaying at Nothe Fort, Weymouth on Sat 25th and Sun 26th May, at their 1940’s Home Front Family Weekend https://nothefort.org.uk/news-events/1940s-home-front-family-weekend?occurrenceID=311

Keep up the good work !

In November, members of the CART team picked up the items so kindly gifted by Aux Unit veteran, the late Bob Millard (www.staybehinds.com/robert-winckworth-millard) and his family.

The image below shows Nik Millard handing over a Rum Jar (to have been used in emergencies by the Aux Units – although often ’emptied’ in advance!) to Bill Ashby.

The jar will be on display in the Operational Base at Coleshill House. The rest of the items gifted will be shown by the CART team at various events in 2019. Bob was a great friend to CART and and his items will ensure that the sacrifice he was willing to make will never be forgotten.

Last August we had the pleasure of filming with the team from the hit BBC show ‘Escape to the Country’ and Presenter Jonnie Irwin.

We have filmed with many media organisations in the past seven years but these guys had really done their homework and came to the site fully prepped.

The small production team interviewed our Coleshill expert Bill Ashby (Above) and with the help of National Trust Volunteers Roger Green and Bob Marchant (Below) they explored inside the new replica Operational Base. You can see a short behind the scenes video of the filming here.

The episode aired on Tuesday 9th May 2017 on BBC One at 3pm. You can watch it here.

p01tn3kpOn Friday 11th November we were featured on BBC Breakfast and BBC News by the BBC’s Robert Hall.

The 28 minutes of total broadcast were broken up into various broadcasts, some were LIVE. These can all be seen here. Also featured in the broadcasts was a tour of a Special Duties bunker in Devon, never before broadcast on television, and live interviews from GHQ Coleshill with our Founder Tom Sykes. You can the longest and most interesting of these below. We would like to thank Robert Hall for his outstanding contribution to this and the BBC for giving our work so much airtime.

Broadmayne D5 PosterIn less than 7 days we will be exhibiting at the Broadmayne D5 event in Dorset.

Broadmayne D5 is an off-shoot of the Weymouth at War’ event which is on over the same weekend. Broadmayne is only a short drive from Weymouth seafront.

We are hoping to be joined by at least one Dorset Auxilier on the day. This will be a very rare opportunity for you to meet them and ask them any questions.

We will display some of our research and artefacts in our tent and provide the background to the various patrols around the UK with focus on Dorset.

We will also have a few Aux re-enactors as part of our display.
