We are saddened to learn of the passing of Ivan Mower. Ivan broke his leg recently and passed away in hospital on 27th April. He was 97. We send our condolences to his family and friends at this time.

Ivan was a member of the Stradbroke Patrol in Suffolk along with his father Albert: www.staybehinds.com/patrol/stradbroke-patrol

The Patrol built their Operational Base themselves. Ivan recalled that the Patrol thought that they were alone, not being aware of any other Patrols.

Recently we added the Stradbroke Auxiliary Unit patrol from Suffolk to our website.

Our researchers Evelyn and Adrian were lucky enough to take patrol member Ivan Mower back to his OB and he is featured in the picture (left)

Ivan Mower told CART that his patrol was totally on their own and knew nothing about other patrols in their area, and although they knew Group CO Lt Hedley Rusted – he was a local butcher – they did not associate him with AU but thought he was regular army.
